I see that any pretense at posting regularly this year is shot! Over three months since my last post; and before that last post it had been 44 days for the one prior to that. It’s hard to believe that even part of me still harbors a desire to be a writer. Yet, I do.
These three months have been consumed with preparation. We began packing almost as soon as we returned from our Christmas break. In March, Scott took the first load of belongings to our new home. I was rather surprised that we were able to fill a 6X12 UHaul trailer that load.
The details of all our day-to-day doing are, I am sure, of little interest. The dining room is now packed and being used as a staging area, as is the downstairs room formally referred to as Gary’s room. The basement, once a large disaster area, with barely room to walk to get to the laundry area, has been given the once over.
We’ve literally touched every single item down there. One load has already gone to the dump. Fully one-quarter of the space is now taken up by stuff we plan to sell at a yard sale. The remaining area is largely empty. The amount of belongings from the basement that we plan to take with us is less than 10% of what was there before. Wow! Never knew that room was so big.
Next week, we’re heading to Florida to see my aunt, then the following weekend is the big event! Scott will be graduating from UNO, and we are having his parents up, as well as a big party with dinner (for up to 50 people!)
Then the weekend after, we will be doing some work, then my brothers, the second big highlight of my spring, will be coming to Omaha. The following weekend, we have our yard sale… and then, I’m out of a job.
I’ll try to keep you all a little better abreast of our doings. But to be honest, while moving and prepping to move and graduating and the like is a TON of work… it’s not the material from which one can dredge up stuff to write about!
