I really do need to get back to writing my posts here a day early. By now, I feel rushed to get something out, and no ideas! It’s just that the past week has been a bit hectic, with lots of running around.

After all the hubub of the week, and the long drives Tuesday, Friday & Saturday, it felt good to just sit home most of the day. Even skipping church yesterday didn’t feel too bad.

But, then in the afternoon, I got my wish. Scott and I went out to “Ride On”, a sporting goods store on the east side, and bought a pair of Merrell hiking shoes. Yay! Now to start breaking them in.

We also had to buy a new leash for Ixchel who, apparently, broke her leash while our neighbors were out walking them on Saturday. As our neighbor said “She is ONE STRONG DOG!” She is that!

Daily Gratitude

This morning, as the girls and I walked through the undeveloped part of the park here, playing “Dodge Dogs”, I contemplated my gratitude for today.

Today is the day I’ve been working towards since starting last week on this “Daily Gratitude” segment. Today’s “Daily Gratitude” is Mom & Dad.

I am most grateful for the simple fact that Bonnie & Louis Strom were my Mom & Dad! That, of all the potential parents, God chose these two to be mine!

I know there are lots of wonderful parents in the world. I know there are lots of really bad parents in the world. But, for me, God chose the two best of the best!

I’m grateful to my parents for always being there. I’ve alluded in the past to some dark times after I came out to them. But through it all, I knew they still loved me, even if at first they couldn’t accept me, they let me know they would always love me.

Considering it took me nearly 30 years to come to self-acceptance, I think that my folks journey to acceptance in 7 years is pretty amazing! And it may have taken even less time, had I not permitted a gulf to open between us.

But that is a story I probably will never share here.

Every decent aspect of my character can be traced to some example from either my Mom or my Dad.

Prayer Intention

For this week’s quote, I paraphrase one I saw somewhere not long ago, but can no longer find:

“One can do much after first praying. One should do nothing before first praying.”

We carry on with our week’s them of “Caring”.

Care is helping others, being mindful of those in need.
