Now, this morning, I beat the girls out of bed! Nikki was still lightly snoring when I awoke, and the morning imperative drew me out of bed. She lifted her head and looked at me like “What the hell dad? I’m still asleep!” But she dutifully followed me out the door, down the hall and then lay outside the door while… oh, look a birdy!
Afterwards, I returned to the kitchen, got the coffee ready, then returned to my bedroom to dress, all the while every move of mine was mirrored by my faithful princess. Once dressed, I pulled the sheets aside, and whispered Ixchel awake.
By now, Nikki was whining frantically, so I realized her morning imperative had kicked in. Leashing them up, I pushed the button on the coffee maker, opened the door, and we were off on our morning walk. The imperative this morning was so strong that even the “Lady With Two Big Dogs” couldn’t distract Nikki from getting to the green.
That business taken care of, we set off to circumperambulate Trails West. Oh the joys of morning discovery as every scent was noticed, and thoroughly explored.
Even the daddy found things this morning to be amazed by. The paperboy had flung Ms. Greens paper into her bushes, instead of her driveway! And numerous strange cars were parked in one of the vacant lots! Oh, how odd!
Heaving round the easterly curve of Happy Trails North, there where it approaches the thriving intersection of Happy Trails Dr. I discovered the cause of such odd parking. The road was covered in new black, uh, stuff!
And then we entered, dum dum DUUUMMMM, the undeveloped zone. And was brought to a stop by a sight. Which I poorly captured in the photos you see below in my Daily Gratitude section!
Daily Gratitude
This. Today, this is what I am grateful for:
Alas, these pictures do not do justice the beauty of the sight!
