Eventually, yesterday, the headache cleared up, and with it the nausea. So, with Scott off to University for study and research, I headed up to Lowe’s to pick up a couple more boards so we could finish the steps. Got there, no problem. Found the two boards. Was at the checkout when I remembered the shims. Wow! Right there on the end-cap at the register was a stack of shims! Yay!
Got home, remembered I was also supposed to buy more screws. Sigh. Well, I did what anybody would do. I cut the boards down, and put as many down as I could. Then drove up to True Value (it’s a little closer) bought the 10 screws, and also bought another pack of shims (had already used up the small pack.) While there I picked up some other odds and ends I needed for other projects (flashlight light bulb, screw for a walking stick.)
Home again, I finished putting in the steps… except for ONE LAST BOARD. Alas, it needs to be ripped, so we head out to the farm tomorrow to the table saw. And THEN I’ll be done with the steps. Once done, it’s on to painting the deck.
Wednesday afternoon, I finally took the girls for their long walk. And that, dear friends is how I spent my hump day.
Daily Gratitude
Wednesday morning, walking down to the dog green with the girls, my primary thought was on getting there and back without losing what little was in my tummy… coupled with my headache.
But even so, I was struck by the beauty of the pending sunrise. At that point in the morning, the sky was still largely grey. The stars had mostly fled the skies, I think the moon had set. And there was just the slightest hint of color to the east. I could make out the rough shape of the mountains.
It dawned on me… how lucky am I? God has blessed me so much in my life, and one gift that God has given me is my sense of sight. All through the day yesterday, I was reminded of this gift. The clouds in various shades of grey and white against the desert blue sky were awesome. At every turn, there were more mountains, and the light was just awesome, showing each and every crevice, or so it seemed… more to feast the eyes on.
Thank you God.
Prayer Intention
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” — Psalm 8:1
This week’s prayer intention is “the Sacred”.
