Today, it was my turn to wake up Nikki for our morning walk. And I awoke to a delightful 31 degrees, according to the weather app on my phone.
So, today we got the final board put in on the stairs! I will try to remember to get a picture tomorrow.
Let’s see. What else is there to report? Oh, I know. I decided Sunday not to shave, and to forego my shaving until Saturday, at the soonest. I have never been able to grow a beard, and haven’t even tried since the early 90s. I wanted to see if anything had changed. Well, as of today, I’m pretty sure in the beard growing department, there has been little change. Still pretty splotchy. But there IS one surprise for me.
I now know that if I were to continue growing my beard for another month or so, the beard would be…
… WHITE! A few blobs of blond here and there, but by and large, it would be white.
And ya know what? I REALLY wish I could grow that beard! I think it’d be cool. But, as of today, it’s itching up a storm. And even if that wasn’t an issue there is one issue that outweighs any other consideration.
Scott wouldn’t like it!
DAILY GRATITUDE
We began this “Daily Gratitude” journal at the beginning of October, and ran with it for 24 days. The premise behind it was that one can increase one’s happiness, one’s joy, by cultivating an attitude of gratitude.
And you know something? The premise is true. By focusing on that for which I am grateful for, I am generally a happier, more joyful person!
And so, I think I’ll continue, at least until the end of November.
Today, I am grateful for my sense of hearing. For the little things, like dachshund yips while Ixchel sleeps, or Nikki’s gentle snores. For the sound of rain, sounding like downpours on our tin porch roof, when actually it’s little more than a sprinkle. Or, for thunder and lightening crashes. I love hearing the sound of babies cry or laugh or giggle, and the sound of children at play.
I love the sound of wind in the leaves, and water trickling over pebbles in mountain streams – I haven’t actually heard this in a while, but the water burbling in various water features around the Community I HAVE heard, and that’ll do.
And, I love the sound of people singing together of a Sunday morning, in worship to our God. I love music. Who doesn’t?
And today, while I type this, the thought comes to me that, above all this, I love the sound of Scott’s voice. I love his singing. I love when I’ve heard him act. His preaching is still about the best I’ve EVER heard.
And I love love love that the last voice I hear at night is always Scott saying “I love you.”
Yeah. Definitely, thank you God!
PRAYER INTENTIONS
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens.” — Psalm 8:1
This week’s prayer intention is “the Sacred”.
