Bought the wrong paint! We want to paint the railing around the porch first, so that we cover any drips with the porch paint. But we bought latex, and the railing were previously painted in oil. So, I dashed up to McCoys for a gallon of oil based high gloss white paint.
Scott finished the first coat about 4:30 pm yesterday. It needs a second coat today, but that should go a LITTLE faster. Maybe we’ll be able to get a coat of the actual deck paint on today, as well!
Really boring right at this minute, nothing to report. Oh, yeah. And I didn’t make my step goal Saturday. 😦
DAILY GRATITUDE
In my Daily Gratitude section this week, I’ve covered the sense of sight, hearing and touch. Today, I’m grateful for my sense of smell. Yes, smell. I love the scent of creosote, mesquite and pinon, all common here. I love the smell of fresh baked bread, and of bacon frying. There’s a scent I smell here every morning when I walk the dogs… it’s a scent reminiscent of frying, but I don’t think it IS frying… it smells yummy!
There’s a scent one only encounters in pine forests in summer, I can’t pin my finger on how to describe it, though… like sun-baked pine needles. Delightful!
A good wine!
A good scotch! (Though, to be honest here, someone has to tell me if it’s good… I like the scent of most scotches!)
How about those delightful Thanksgiving and Christmas scents of pumpkin pie and apple pie and cherry pie, of turkey and stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans… and more fresh baked bread.
And Christmas morning’s traditional orange-cinnamon rolls.
The simple odor of freshly brewing coffee.
What’s NOT to be thankful for?
PRAYER INTENTIONS
“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11
I’m foregoing the “Prayer Intention tiles” that I have spoken of over the past weeks today.
Instead, I’m focusing my prayer request on God’s guidance. The verse I’ve quoted, Jer. 29:11, has spoken to me for over ten years, actually, since about the same time as I first heard of the Prayer of Jabez. I believe this. I have seen the fruits of this all these years in my life.
I’m hoping that one of two prospects pan out this week. It would entail taking on a management position in a retail setting, in three small stores nearby.
