There’s a quiz (yes, ferrealz) at the end of the first section of today’s post, just before Daily Gratitude.

Did you know there are websites with pages dedicated to helping people like me, bloggers, to come up with topics for blog posts? And did you know I’m desparate enough to actually look up some of these pages in order to come up with an idea for a blog post? I looked at several, and frankly they didn’t really speak to me. They don’t fit what I write about… then again, I don’t often know WHAT it is I DO write about. I don’t really have a theme, other than to just write what I’m thinking about.

Well, one of the pages listed over 500 potential topics. I closed my eyes, and hit the “pg dn” button on my keyboard several times, then poising my mouse over the list I double clicked, hoping to get a word. It took me three tries before I actually got on. The topic it was tied to was:

There’s a Delorian in your driveway & you can now travel through time. Where would you go?

Ha, now THERE’s a topic for me! If you look back a few days, you’ll find an article about my imagination and how it was supposed to be a strong point for me.

I have, in the past, actually fantasized about this very topic. Where would I go? My first thought was “Into the past!” Then I realized there was no limit to whether I could go forward or backward in time.

There are times I think I’d like nothing better than to go so far back in time, to a time and place where no other people exist. There, in a little self built cabin on the side of a hill, perhaps here in the Mesilla Valley, maybe about 10,000 years ago (I’m guessing that’s before anyone else got here) I would live out my days, preferably with my husband by my side. We’d hike and explore the mountains, and we’d hunt (because there’d be plenty of game, there being no competition for them.) And then we’d… oh, I don’t know, my fantasizing never takes me THAT far. Scott would be bored inside a month, I’m sure! Oh, wait! WE have a Delorian! I could drive up and down the valley! There’s a world to explore!

Other times, I think I’d go to the future. Maybe do a few stop ins, just to see what’s happening in 3000 CE. And then 4000 CE. And then 5000 CE. I’d just keep on going, spending only a few days in each place, trying to interfere as little as possible. Perhaps I’d drop back a century or several to figure out why some change occurred.

And then I’d come back to now (oh, wait, I’d make one stop… in about 1910 – I’d have to research to make sure I had the year right – to purchase several thousand shares of IBM’s stock. I’d do the same for other companies… and THEN I’d come back to now) and live out the remainder of my life in my gorgeous mountain up on the West Mesa somewhere, surrounded by 100’s of acres of my own property to keep the riff-raff out!

Yeah. Not really. But, ya know, NOW is a pretty good time to live. Why worry about “back when” or “Someday”, when there is so much to enjoy right now?

Today, someone told me, indirectly via a comment on Facebook, that my blog was uplifting. I am truly honored by that, and to be honest, I would like that to be the theme of my blog. I could do worse!

So, what about YOU? Perhaps you could be my source for blog topics? Drop down to the bottom of my blog, and use the form there. If you are reading this in email, click here. Oh, I just won’t do politics. Don’t ask, I won’t tell.

So, now for that quiz: No fair using Google or other search engines. What does today’s blog title have to do with today’s post?

DAILY GRATITUDE

As I mentioned yesterday, I’m beginning to run out of unique things I’m grateful for! When I think about gratitude now, I have to keep checking, and sure enough, I’ve already written about it. Which shows how short-sighted I truly am when it comes to the blessings in my life!

So what AM I grateful for today? Believe it or not, even this I go searching on the web for… looking for something that triggers that “ah HA moment” when I realize something I’m grateful for.

Children. A previous church I attended used to not be very welcoming to children. In fact, if anything, I would say we discouraged people from bringing children. That has changed now, but the feeling that grew in my heart in those days has not.

I love seeing children at play. The crying doesn’t bother me. Not in church, not in restaurants (maybe a little in movie theaters). In the cry of an unhappy child, I hear God’s voice speaking in my ear. In the shout of a child at play, or the laughter of a child… I hear Jesus.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

“I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

PRAYER INTENTIONS

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11

At this period of time, I have but one prayer request. That is for my brother, Bob. He is in serious need of your prayers. Thank you.
