Friday, I spent most of the day cleaning the house from top to bottom.
At lunch, I walked the mile over to Old Mesilla to the square. All the buildings along the square were built in the first part of the 1800’s, perhaps earlier. At Del Sol, the store I applied at, I purchased a “Thunderbird Blanket” to lay over the cedar chest in our bedroom. Ixchel uses that cedar chest as a means of getting in to bed with us. As a result, there are some light scratches in it that I need to polish out. This blanket should protect it!
After my 5 minute shopping spree, I wandered down to Emilia’s, for a bite to eat. The food there was pleasant, I’ll definitely go back, but only with friends. And it’s a bit pricey. Or maybe that was because I had a Modelo’s Especial!
After my walk home (by that time, the temperatures had dropped from a balmy 44 to a bit on the cool side at 35 degrees. With strong southerly winds of about 20mph.) Once home, I finished up the house keeping. Scott arrived home about 4 and we put the finishing touches on the dining room table.
For dinner, our friends J & M came down from their lofty perches up in the Soledad Canyon area (yes, the same we have hiked from time to time.) We had a wonderful evening chatting, with Scott’s Chicken & Dumpling Casserole, some delicious green beans, salad and italian bread. For dessert Scott whipped up a delicious pecan pie (I think it was the “Walmart Recipe”.)
Saturday we had planned on a hike up to Dripping Springs. I chickened out because of the deepening cold, and high winds, and the risk of snow or ice. So, instead, we went out and returned Ixchel’s harness, then bought a new one that fit better, as well as one for Nikki. Next, we took Ixchel to get her nails trimmed.
After dropping them back at home, we ran a few more errands, buying a few things we had neglected to get over the past few months, to be ready for winter. (Needed a blanket for our guest bed, an additional one for ours, as a comforter is just too MUCH warmth down here.
And then we came home, and relaxed the rest of the day.
This morning, there is snow on the ground! I had to CARRY Ixchel the two blocks down to the dog green this morning.
Today’s plan’s call for, ahem… a water park. Yes, it’s our niece’s 7th birthday so we’re going to a water park in El Paso. Fortunately, it’s indoors!
DAILY GRATITUDE
Today, I’m grateful for nice cozy places, and a sleepy puppy curled by my knees.
PRAYER INTENTIONS
“God seeks shalom at every level of life, from cells to community and nations. Our unique calling is to bring God’s shalom to our relationships and the world.” — Bruce G. Epperly
This week, no new tile. Please continue to pray for my brother, who is still in need of prayer, as he recovers from heart surgery. Thank you!
