Let’s Reacquaint Ourselves

Ah, yes. Yesterday’s poem. I suspect my brief assay into poetry should best be laid to rest. It was a tool used to inform the world that I was about to make an effort to rekindle my blogging efforts. But, looking at it nearly 24 hours later one thought crosses my mind: “Eh, not so much.” Sigh.

The last four months since I previously posted (not counting last night) have been busy ones!

So, let’s see. When last I wrote, we were engaged in putting down new flooring in much of our home. We had hired a friend of the family to pull up our carpet, put down a new engineered wood floor, and enclose our deck. He left us with the carpet torn up, and half the floor in. It took us about 7 weekends to complete the job of putting in the remainder. And there are still a few details to work out.

Then, at the end of April, there was some turmoil at work, and as a result, I was forced into a role that required me to travel to Albuquerque for a week of intense (6 days, 10 hours per). This was accompanied by a beneficial increase in income.

May brought my brothers and sisters-in-law to visit for our annual family reunion. We spent time travelling up to Silver City and Pinos Altos on one day, and to Cloudcroft and Sunspot the next. The evenings were spent enjoying each other’s company and having dinner at some of the fine restaurants in our vicinity.

Two weeks later, in early June, Scott’s and my good friends, Tony & David, came for a nearly 5 day visit. We travelled to Carlsbad Caverns, to Cloudcroft & Sunspot again, and to White Sands National Monument. It was good seeing friends from Omaha.

In early July, off to Branson, MO, for our annual Hays Family Reunion with Mudder & Pops. Terry, Bethany & Eleanor also came, but they drove out a day earlier, left a day earlier, as well!

We decided, also, in July, that we needed to tear up the carpet in our master bedroom. We had it replaced with engineered flooring, but this time hired professionals to lay it. They did a great job!

And that, I think, catches you all up with our summer. I’m hoping to be a little better from here on out with postings, and returning to something a little more fun that a brief description of “Things We’ve Done!” That gets boring to write about. And I’m sure it’s boring to read!
