lI’ll probably get in to trouble with this statement because it is too general, however, I’ll make the statement anyhow.
All things are relative.
If you go back to last year, and read through my blogs, you’ll notice that one of the things I love about Las Cruces is the low humidity here! I even, I suspect, taunted my friends back in Nebraska and Iowa about our low humidity. Yes. Well.
Oh, my gosh has it gotten humid here! The monsoons are fully upon us, and with the rains the humidity has climbed and it is now miserable!
It’s 40% humidity outside. At my desk as I type, I’m looking at a weather clock which gives the humidity of the air around it. It’s 35% humidity levels here!
You know, in dry climates, many facilities do not have air conditioning. Or, rather they do, but they have different terms. In Omaha, the vast majority of the time, if you say you have AC, it means you have what we Las Crucians call “refrigerated air”. Whereas, down here, we use swamp coolers. Except, my house is refrigerated.
My office building uses swamp coolers. And it’s humid here. Yuck! So, I guess humidity is relative… because back in Nebraska, the humidity is sitting at about 75% as I write this… according to Google.
I’ve noticed (new topic, here) that the seasons are a’shiftin’. Not too long ago, I’d walk to the car in the morning, start the engine, then put on my sunglasses, since I have to drive east each morning to work.
Today, I did so, and had gone about 5 miles when I realized I really didn’t need the sun glasses… the sun is coming up later now… the shorter days are already approaching, though still afar off. On the other hand, before I put on the sunglasses I turned on the a/c (refrigerated) to get the damp out of the car.
Oh, and here’s something for those of you old enough to recall… and I suspect that means most of my readership. As I was pulling out of my driveway, I noticed the “High Beam” indicator on my dash board was on. I spent several moments trying to find the switch to turn them off… with my FOOT! Remember when the brights were on the floor?
