Somehow, I don’t quite know how, too much time has flown by since last I wrote.
There’s not been a lot to write about. I’ve gotten those “I really should write something” feelings, and then… well, I just don’t. My mind just isn’t filled with super profound thoughts!
So, what’s happened?
Health: I’ve been through the wringer with cardio testing, all to have the cardiologist say “You’re heart is just fine… nothing to worry about. See you next year!” And, I’ve had some testing done to see if all is relatively normal with my brain. It is. Found one small cyst in my cheek on one of the glands. We’ll wait 6 months and see what is up with that. I’m not new to cysts, though this is the first one that deep inside! Bottom line, though, is I’m healthy.
There was one area of concern though. It would seem my diabetes has blown out of control. Meaning, my blood sugars, even when ‘low’, are above healthy limits. As my doctor said whenever your blood sugar is above xxx, something is being damaged. My blood sugar is above xxx. Something is being damaged. So, I’m on a new diet (lost 15 pounds).
This also means, I have returned to walking. Yes, I had stopped. The blisters on my heel after the Bataan never fully healed. The spot they were in became tender, rough, scabrous. It’s right on the impact site where my heel hits the pavement during walking. I went on a hike in early June, and the blisters reformed. So I started to veg out. This situation is slowly resolving, and what is helping it is actually just getting out there and WALKING!
I was told to walk 2 miles a day. “Oh, but doctor, I walk more than that already. I did the Bataan in March.” Oh, okay, he said, then walk them in 15 minutes per mile. “Oh, but during my training for the Bataan, I do that.” Then keep it up.
And then, later… much later… as I was sitting, waiting for my heel to heal enough to start walking again, I realized the humor of it all. I was living in my “past glory”! I wasn’t walking two miles anymore, but I had, once upon a time. And I DID, it is true, walk as fast as 4 miles per hour… on at least 3 or 4 occasions. Ego, get thee behind me! That said, today, I walked 2.4 miles in 40 minutes. Not sure what that makes the pace. The math – it is above me!
On other fronts, I have learned that every thing there is to know about me in order to steal my identity has been stolen… from the US Government! Oh, and all of my medical data was stolen from another source! And in May, my identity was stolen, though THAT was thwarted. Not sure I will be so lucky next time!
I’m going to attempt to write more going forward… more frequently. But perhaps less quantitatively. And with luck, more qualitatively. Make sense?
Given all this identity theft, I’m gonna need some verification that you are you.
