This will be a short post, I think. But I wanted to bring everyone up to date on the past 6 or 7 weeks. After New Years, Scott and I flew to Washington DC for the 2016 Society for Historical Archaeology convention. We got to see a little of the city, taking the first twoContinue reading “Best Laid Plans”

Walking? Again?! Please, bear with me!
Well, let me begin this blog post by saying if you don’t want to read this I totally understand. It IS a bit boring, and I’m sure everyone is just about so done hearing about my walking. But, if you can bring yourself to it, I do hope you finish this blog. I suspect thisContinue reading “Walking? Again?! Please, bear with me!”
First Down and Goals to Go
Well, it’s official. At approximately 4:15 am on December 21, 2015, I passed the 1700 mile mark for miles walked this year. I hope to now end up around 1730 miles before the year is up. Maybe even further! We’ll see. I’ve already set my 2016 goal at 1,900 miles. I’m already feeling intimidated! And,Continue reading “First Down and Goals to Go”
To Whine or not to Whine… and perhaps some cheese to go with
I’ve been wanting to post for several weeks now. The problem is, nothing comes to mind. I sit down, with a topic in mind, but I just can’t seem to get it to coalesce into anything substantive. Today’s post is not likely going to be any better. But, I’m pretty determined to post anyhow…even ifContinue reading “To Whine or not to Whine… and perhaps some cheese to go with”
Heart of a Pilgrim
My foot is finally healing. I went to the doctor after threatening to do so ALL SUMMER. Apparently, I had developed a fungus of some kind on the site of the original blister. He gave me a cream, and in a day my heel felt better, in two days, the pain was gone. In threeContinue reading “Heart of a Pilgrim”
Fairwell My Little Princess
On a cool, late spring day in May, 2001, Scott and I drove 370 miles from our home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the town of Haysville, Kansas, over 5 hours away. We were on a mission for our housemate, Pam, who had just two months earlier lost her White German Shepherd Dog, Savannah. SheContinue reading “Fairwell My Little Princess”
August 6 2015
Yesterday, I appear to have been “Calendar Challenged”. My title should have read “August 5…”. I’ve been asked by one of you to share my dieting secret. Let me just say, before I do, that if I had paid attention to my big brothers’ advice years ago, I’d have been smart! But I didn’t. TheContinue reading “August 6 2015”
August 4 2015
Somehow, I don’t quite know how, too much time has flown by since last I wrote. There’s not been a lot to write about. I’ve gotten those “I really should write something” feelings, and then… well, I just don’t. My mind just isn’t filled with super profound thoughts! So, what’s happened? Health: I’ve been throughContinue reading “August 4 2015”
Recovered
So, it’s now been over a month since the Bataan. I’m finally all recovered. The blisters have receded and are most now just dead skin that is slowly sloughing off. And I’m ready, and rarin’ to get back on the trails. ‘Ceptin’ the rattlesnakes are out, now, and apparently there are more this year. OhContinue reading “Recovered”
Follow-Up to Bataan
So, I’ve been waiting, probably not too patiently, for the results to be posted for this past Sunday’s Bataan. Yesterday, they finally posted a notice that results are available, but not official, as there were a large number of DQs… disqualified people. How that impacts the results, I am not really sure, but oh well.Continue reading “Follow-Up to Bataan”
