My foot is finally healing. I went to the doctor after threatening to do so ALL SUMMER. Apparently, I had developed a fungus of some kind on the site of the original blister. He gave me a cream, and in a day my heel felt better, in two days, the pain was gone. In threeContinue reading “Heart of a Pilgrim”

Recovered
So, it’s now been over a month since the Bataan. I’m finally all recovered. The blisters have receded and are most now just dead skin that is slowly sloughing off. And I’m ready, and rarin’ to get back on the trails. ‘Ceptin’ the rattlesnakes are out, now, and apparently there are more this year. OhContinue reading “Recovered”
Follow-Up to Bataan
So, I’ve been waiting, probably not too patiently, for the results to be posted for this past Sunday’s Bataan. Yesterday, they finally posted a notice that results are available, but not official, as there were a large number of DQs… disqualified people. How that impacts the results, I am not really sure, but oh well.Continue reading “Follow-Up to Bataan”
The Bataan
Last week, as the day of the 26th Annual Bataan Memorial Death March approached, all the work I put in to preparation seemed to pale in comparison with the immensity of the task I had set for myself. I read reports from previous Bataan Memorials by such luminaries as a Command Sergeant Major of theContinue reading “The Bataan”
Time Keeps On Slippin’
Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Since January 19, so about 6 weeks. One would think that after 6 weeks I’d have something to say, wouldn’ one? Well, not really. First, meet the new Eric! Don’t get used to it. I am thinking this’ll probably come off some time around 3/31/15, maybe even sooner.Continue reading “Time Keeps On Slippin’”
Biggest Winner
Yesterday, I walked my first Half Marathon. This was Las Cruces, NM, second “Biggest Loser Half-Marathon RunWalk”. As the name implies, it is associated with the television reality show “Biggest Loser”. There’s a casting application booth that I could have gone to, but since I only (Ha! “Only!”) need to lose 50 pounds, I didn’tContinue reading “Biggest Winner”
Nothing Like Precise Terminology
The other day I spoke of “Widgety Thingies” in my blog. And that reminded me of a story. I told this to a co-worker the other day, and it had her in stitches the rest of the day. So, in hope of brightening your day, here it is: Scott and I have OnStar on ourContinue reading “Nothing Like Precise Terminology”
I listened
Okay, so here’s the thing… Only four people responded to my request. A bunch of people told me they read my blog… but none of those folks apparently read the previous one… Hmmm. Well, in any case, I listened to your responses. And overwhelmingly (can 4 be overwhelming?) you said (if I distill it downContinue reading “I listened”
Gone Fishing… not really
We’re two thirds of the way through October, and my training is progressing relatively well. The weekend after my last post, I did two back to back walks. On Friday that week I walked 6.5 miles around the old Mesilla township, dodging morning traffic (not much but enough to need to dodge them!) The nextContinue reading “Gone Fishing… not really”
Saturday – October 4
So, since I wrote last, I’ve begun preparing in earnest for the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon in March 2015. At this stage, there’s not a lot to write about that preparation. During the week, I try to get 2 miles in before work. This means I pretty well have to be walking by 5:45.Continue reading “Saturday – October 4”
