We’re two thirds of the way through October, and my training is progressing relatively well. The weekend after my last post, I did two back to back walks. On Friday that week I walked 6.5 miles around the old Mesilla township, dodging morning traffic (not much but enough to need to dodge them!) The nextContinue reading “Gone Fishing… not really”

Saturday – Here comes the Bride
Scott and I enjoyed a nice breakfast with the family (again) then set off to kill some time by taking a walk. We set off on a south-westerly course out of Wherwell, and somehow ended up in a town due south of Wherwell. We returned from the northeast, a brief journey of only 2.5 miles!Continue reading “Saturday – Here comes the Bride”
Friday – Small Town England
I haven’t a lot to write about today. After breakfast with the family, Scott and I set off for Basingstoke, following my cousin Molly and her sister Amy. There, after getting only a LITTLE lost, we said goodbye to our Vauxhall Meriva, faithful companion of the past week. We have driven over 1200 miles throughoutContinue reading “Friday – Small Town England”
Thursday – Into the Past
We had a pleasant evening last night in Bath. After finishing up at the Roman Baths, we returned to our hotel, where we ate, then retired to our room. We finished yesterday’s blog entry, went to bed. This morning, we arose early, and set off for Avebury. This wonderfully fascinating location is only 27.7 milesContinue reading “Thursday – Into the Past”
Wednesday – On to Bath
We began today with a repeat breakfast, foregoing only the cereal. Even so, we left our charming little hotel quite satisfied! Today, our journey was to take us to Glastonbury Abbey, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge (in the region famous for having originated Cheddar Cheese) and finally to the ancient city of Bath to see theContinue reading “Wednesday – On to Bath”
Tuesday – A Visit to Roots
Once again, we’ve had some problems with our internet access. The little hotel we were staying at in Ilfracombe lost internet access Tuesday afternoon. So this post had to await our arrival in Bath. Tuesday morning, Scott and I enjoyed a “True British Devonshire Breakfast”, as our hostess described it: a bowl of cold cereal,Continue reading “Tuesday – A Visit to Roots”
Monday – In the steps of King Arthur
Well, not really…. Today, we departed Cornwall and continued our journey. When approaching a roundabout, our gps will announce “continue through the roundabout, THIRD exit.” Or first or second or whatever. The third exit basically means we are to turn RIGHT. We miscounted. And so our 5 minute journey from St. Ives to the A30Continue reading “Monday – In the steps of King Arthur”
Sunday – In Cornwall
Sunday morning, after a nice breakfast of Wheetabix (a breakfast cereal) toast and coffee, Scott and I drove down to St. Michael’s Mount, across the bay from Penzance (fabled land of Pirates… AAarrgh!) We were lucky to arrive during low tide, so we walked across the causeway to this ancient hilltop monastery, then climbed theContinue reading “Sunday – In Cornwall”
