Friday, August 7, 2009. The people really started arriving today, and the site is filling up. Though the overall count is still going to probably be less than previous years. There’s a “competing” campout down in Colorado earlier in the summer. From what I hear, it’s not something I’d want to go to. Once again,Continue reading “Rendezvous2009 – Day 4”

Rendezvous2009 – Day 3
Thursday, August 6, 2009. Last night was a bit more eventful! Around midnight a thunderstorm blew in, rocking the trailer even worse than the awning the last evening. The lightning and thunder were absolutely awesome! Our outdoor shower room blew down, the camping fly that we set up blew over and everything outside got soaked. Continue reading “Rendezvous2009 – Day 3”
Rendezvouso2009 – Day 2
Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Scott and Tom went up to the grocery store and bought groceries for our trip last night. Tom fixed a “Sloppy Celery Burger” dinner last night. It was great! We put the awning out, and sat and enjoyed the evening air, and took to our beds by 10 p.m. During theContinue reading “Rendezvouso2009 – Day 2”
Rendezvous2009 – Day 1
Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Today was a pretty uneventful day. We were on the road by 9 a.m. pretty much on schedule. At least to the degree that we HAVE a schedule. Eric has a schedule. Ray, Tom & Scott really don’t care. I’m learning to be less driven by schedule. It ain’t easy. Dangit,Continue reading “Rendezvous2009 – Day 1”
Opinions, take 2
I have deleted my previous post. In it, I expressed my opinion of someone else’s expressed opinion. As I wrote that piece, I should have remembered the age old adage about opinions… that, like a@@h@les, they are sometimes best left unexposed. That opinion piece was certainly one such time. And so, it’s gone.
En Route
10:20 a.m. Scott and I got started pretty much on schedule today. We had spoken about leaving about 9 a.m. and in spite of our lagging a bit this morning, we were leaving Council Bluffs pretty much at 9 a.m. As of right now, we’ve driven just a little over 80 miles. Our plans toContinue reading “En Route”
passion
Our passions make us most aware of our personal power, energy and joy. Many internal and external factors influence how successfully we manifest these passions in our lives. Earlier today, I posted a comment on Facebook. I asked the question “What does one do if one discerns that one’s passion is God?” The question meansContinue reading “passion”
Pictures ready at last
Hi all, it’s taken a while to collect as many of the photos as I could from our friends (still hoping for one more set). Also, it was a busy week, as we prepared, at church, for this weekend’s Pride Parade, and the inauguration of our Would Jesus Discriminate campaign. Any, a collection of theContinue reading “Pictures ready at last”
in which i ramble and sometimes approach stream of consciousness writing
It’s been a… different… couple of weeks. First of all, shortly after I posted my last entry here, I learned that my hoped for job with OPS had gone to someone else. They chose to hire from within… being a bureaucracy, they assign points for various aspects of your application, and one of those isContinue reading “in which i ramble and sometimes approach stream of consciousness writing”
news from iowa
Hey there! Been a bit of a busy week, with nothing to report… until today, that is. As some may know, beginning tomorrow, same-sex couples will be allowed to apply for marriage licenses in Iowa. And on Thursday, after a 3 day waiting period, they will be able to get married. Local television stations inContinue reading “news from iowa”
