Tuesday, I put my mind to actually writing, and amazingly enough I was able to write nearly 3000 words. Yeah, big deal, huh? That’s okay.

Last night, Scott and I joined the Jornada Hiking & Outdoors Club weekly La Llorona Trail Stroll. We did this last week, as well, and wrote about it in last Wednesday’s blog, titled (erroneously) La Llorna Trail Later, I told the story of La Llorona at Don’t Cry For Me.

We ended up not quite making it to the north trailhead, because one of the walkers decided to turn back without letting us know (we hike totally by moon/star light!)

There was quite the head-wind on our walk back, as well! As we walked, I fell back a little from the group, though never losing sight of them. I enjoy these night walks. There is on the one hand, the friendly banter of our fellow walkers, reminding us we are not alone, that we are part of a larger whole.

And on the other hand, there is a sense that what I am there for is to hear the silence around me. As we walk, I hear the trickle of the water just to the west, sometimes only feet from our path. In the brush along side, there is a sighing sound, the wind in the dry leaves. Bats squeak in these bushes, and sometimes birds thrash about. I listen to the call of the wild geese out over the river. In the distance, truck along the interstate that passes over us at about the half way point. These are what the silence of the desert are about. It is the sound of silence.

DAILY GRATITUDE

I believe that in each of us, a spark of the Holy resides; that God indwells in me, resides at my center.

Today, I am grateful that this indwelling Spirit of Righteousness and Love invites me in to myself, and thereby into Himself.

PRAYER INTENTIONS

“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” — Jeremiah 29:11

Today, I picked a new tile, Beginnings & Completions.

How appropriate! This past week, the Strom Family marked a new Beginning! So, this coming week, I will be praying for this new beginning in our family, and invite all to join me in praying for Matthew Strom, my nephew Brad’s fourth child, born November 5th.

I’d like to add a prayer request for my brother, BBMO.

  1. One day can you blog a Google map or a site link to a map of the trails you walk? I’d like to know where they are.
Thanks. And congrats on your writing effort.

  2. Good morning, EJ.

Thank you for your encouragement the other day… your comment as well as help I received from several other sources got me going again.

As to a google map of our hikes, I’d be delighted to.
